@dav You have to use Blueprints to make a Flask app modular, look into that and it should get you on track
@NihRubra At the moment it seems like it just is what it is. It doesn't seem like we can really do much about it short of forking it and fixing it ourselves, or adopting another fork that addresses it.
@Athunin could be, I have no idea.
@Athunin I agree, I feel false advertised to. I thought we could control our experience more than this. Now it seems like the Mastoverse is forced on us.
Hey all, so even though Federation Bot is annoying, it's not the reason we're seeing toots from the outside world - according to the creator of Mastodon: https://discourse.joinmastodon.org/t/disconnecting-relay-doesnt-work/1831/5?u=coestar
It seems like regardless of anything I do, any user here can follow users in other instances and cause them to show up in our Federated timeline. If I'm understanding this correctly, which I honestly don't know if I am.
@Athunin not at all, no.
@Athunin therefore, that *should* mean that each of the outside accounts that we see appearing in our Federated timeline are showing up because someone *here* is following them.
This then means that I have no control whatsoever as a server operator as to what gets shown in that timeline.
@Athunin @InfernalJayed @Zhuria @ruddyrue @SovietMan @blockington99 @cumpreacher @Billie @Munny @NihRubra @Fudce @Igloo according to the creator of Mastodon, that shouldn't matter - he said this regarding Fedbot:
"No, that’s a different direction, so not your problem."
He also said this regarding users here following users outside:
"And no, following one user from somewhere does not make your server follow everyone from there. Just that person."
